Friendswood Junior High School teacher Kimberly Hall attained national recognition by winning the National Spanish Exam Teacher Study Abroad Scholarship to study in Spain this coming summer.

The study abroad scholarship provides teachers with a wonderful professional growth opportunity and is one of only 6 scholarships awarded nationally. Mrs. Hall will spend 4 weeks in Madrid to continue her studies in Spanish language and culture at the graduate level.

Mrs. Hall became eligible for this scholarship by administering the National Spanish Examinations to her students over the past 3 years. Students at Friendswood Junior High School have a long history of high achievement on these exams attaining over the years many gold, silver and bronze medals.

The National Spanish Examinations are the largest of their kind in the United States with over 160,000 students participating in 2017. The exams are administered each year in grades 6 through 12 and are sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese.

As part of the scholarship, Mrs. Hall will chronicle her experience in Spain via a blog that will be posted on the National Spanish Exam Website. You may also follow Mrs. Hall’s journey using a direct link at: www.aventurasmundialesdeprofe.blogspot.com
