The District is forming a School Safety Advisory Committee which will be activated in mid-June. This committee will be an advisory committee, tasked to review the current safety layers and provide input on enhancement considerations for the safety of FISD students. The meetings will likely be in the late afternoons and early evenings for 2 hours per session and could last through the end of July. The number of meetings will be determined by the progress of the committee. The makeup of the committee will include community members from this year’s District Safety Committee and several members of the Superintendent’s Advisory Committee, both of which are made up of parents whose names were submitted by principals, administrators, and the Board of Education. The School Safety Advisory Committee will also include members representing the faith community, professional counseling, and law enforcement. The school district will have membership represented by members of District Administration, campus principals, assistant principals, a counselor, and students from FJH and FHS.
The District is seeking additional parental at-large membership. If you are interested in serving on this committee, please send an email of interest to the following email address: [email protected]. After names have been submitted, names will be randomly selected to serve as members of the committee. If you are interested, please submit your name by Thursday, June 7, 2018.
