Skills USA compete at State, 2 to advance to Nationals

 In Digital Cinema Production, Tim Crews and Michael Kiessling won first place and qualified for National competition. Joseph Thomas and Cole Radigan won second place in the category.

A bronze medal was awarded Michael Luckerbach in TV Production Technical Test.

 “We won!  It was a great trip and all students who competed did very well. We are so proud of the hard work each student put in to prepare for what is always a tough competition at the state level,” Sponsor Al Taglialavores aid.  Meredith Wise is also a sponsor.

Students from all over the state compete in over 170 contests to earn a spot at the national contest held June 23-27 in Kansas City, MO.

FHS’s MCS program brought 27 competitors in the following events: Broadcast News Production, TV/Video Production, Digital Cinema Production and Technical Standards Testing.

 Crews/Kiessling will compete over the summer at the national contest.  They are the second team to qualify for nationals since we resumed SkillsUSA competitions 4 years ago.

 The other State competitors from FHS included Thomas Reynolds, Kevin Kataria, Mathew Nguyen, and Caelan Goff in TV Production; Kacey Bowen, Sheryl Mathew, Alyx Porter, Amy Peryam, Makenzie Cooper, Arshi Butt, Scott Berardi and Jake Ranostaj  in Broadcast News Production; Cheyenne Fulcher in Customer Service;  Harris Anderson, Alyssa Brodeur,  and Sarah Mills Broadcast Testing; Jorge Posada in TV Testing; and In Testing, Halley South, KatieNewton, McKinleigh Loftin with Chelsea Hayes in Employ ability test.
