Bales and Windsong GT students represented FISD at the Texas Association of Gifted and Talented Conference at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston on December 6, 2013. Students shared their projects with GT teachers from all over the state.
Fourth grade students studied the country of Malawi, Africa and created wire sculptures called galimotos similar to the ones Malawi children build. Some students wrote and videoed a newscast about Malawi, while others learned how to present their new knowledge using the Educreation app.
Fifth grade students studied the effects of concussions on the brain. Windsong students designed helmets to better protect the brain. Bales students wrote lyrics and performed music videos about the brain and also designed original games to teach others about the effects of concussions on the brain.
