UIL Regional Meet

Students from Friendswood High School won many medals and will be advancing to State from UIL Regional competition held recently in Huntsville.

In UIL Speech, Dylan Dickens won first place in Informative Extemp advancing to UIL State and Melyssa Perez was awarded first place in Lincoln-Douglas Debate advancing to UIL State.
Kevin Hodge earned foutth place in Informative Extemp and Natasha Wroblewski was awarded sixth place in Persuasive Extemp. Coach is Cheryl Ryne.

In Computer Science, Derek Hudson and Thomas Chenette won first and second places respectively and advance to UIL State. Matthew Stamy was awarded sixth place. Coach is Annette Walter.
In Journalism, Amanda Cordero won second place in Feature Writing and advances to State. Coach is Vicki Hartzell.

In Poetry Interpretation, Samantha McHenry was awarded second place and advances to State. In Prose Interpretation, John Yawn won second place and also advances.
In Ready Writing, Nathan Tat won fifth place.
In Science, Chris Neagu won fifth place.
In Social Studies, Charles Yeager won second place and Chris Yeager won third and both advance to State. Victor Liaw earned fourth place.
In Spelling and Vocabulary, Natalie Wu earned fifth place.
Six Friendswood High School teams also placed in team events at UIL Regional Academic contest.
The Current Issues team placed second and advances.
