FHS Theatre plans 2 fall productions; classes for grades 4-8

Friendswood High School Theatre Department’s begins the 2013 – 2014 season with Mustang Follies Improvisation Show in the Studio Theatre at the High School Friday and Saturday, September 20 and 21. Tickets are $8 at the door.   Seating is limited.

This Improvisation Troupe is celebrating the 20th Year Anniversary and will host two shows nightly at 7 and  9 pm.

Mustang Follies has generated many Friendswood comics who are working nationally including national award winning – John Ramsey, Class of 1998, and Colin David, Class of 2010, whose Improve group – Glandour just won the National Collegiate Improvisation Championship for 2013.

In October, the FHS Theatre Department will present The Wizard of Oz. Shows will run Thursday, October 3, Saturday, October 5, at 7 pm and Sunday, October 6 at 2:30 pm then again on Saturday, October 12 at 7 pm and Sunday October 13 at 2:30 pm.   Tickets will be $10 at the door. 

This award winning theatre department will be presenting The Wizard of Oz in conjunction with a Theatre Young Actors Clinic for Oz Munchkins. The drama department will offer theatre classes and auditions for munchkins with a parent information session and meet and greet Thursday Sept. 5 at 6 pm in the Studio Theatre. These classes and auditions will be for grades 4-8 only.

Classes will meet Sept. 14, 21, and 26. Rehearsals for young actors will be twice a week on Sept. 17, 19, 24, 26, and 30 as well as October 1 and 2. To be selected, the young actor/actress must undergo an audition then must be available for all rehearsals and performances.

Cost for the clinic will be $175, which includes nine hours of class, a tee shirt and costume fee.
