FISD Community Education is pleased to announce a full slate of classes scheduled for fall, 2013.  Most classes are held on Tuesday or Thursday nights at Friendswood High School. However, Youth and Adult Karate sessions start September 19, 6:30 pm and 7:30 pm respectively, at Bales Intermediate School.  There are also numerous online classes available for students who want to learn at their own pace and convenience.  Classes taught at the high school begin as early as Tuesday, September 24, and continue through Thursday, November 21.  Some classes meet one night or for as long as 12 weeks.

Adult Education & Self-Improvement Classes Include:  College Process & Timeline for parents of junior high and high school students, Computer: Quick Intro classes for MS Excel and MS Word 2010, Do You Have What It Takes to Start a Nonprofit Business, Essentials of Estate Planning offered by an attorney in the field, Fundraising for Nonprofits–Compliance for Raffles, Casino Nights, and More, Go Back to College as the Instructor, Import Export Now, Intro to Grants for Nonprofit Organizations, Long-Term Care Planning, Mandarin Chinese, Small Business Philanthropy—the DO’s & DON’Ts, You’re on the Air—How to Make It in Voice-Overs, and even more classes online via

Among the Adult Enrichment & Recreation Classes offered are:  Art Pastels, Beginning Knitting, Beginning Country Two-Step, Beginning Swing Dance, Intro to Home Canning, Just Once Guitar and Just Once Piano—for Hopelessly Busy People, Karate classes for Youths & Adults, Landscape Design, Silk Painting and Tai Chi. After School Youth Tennis (starting 9/16 at FISD’s Woodlawn courts) is also included.  FISD Community Education offers numerous online classes in this general category through our agreement with Education To Go.
