FHS Band named Champ of Lone Star Preview

Band-LoneStarWhat a great day for the FHS Band! For the second consecutive year, the Friendswood High School Band is the Champion of the Lone Star Preview!

In Class 4A, FHS Band was first place and had a clean sweep in the caption awards: Outstanding Music Performance, Outstanding Visual Performance, Outstanding Color Guard, Outstanding Percussion, and Outstanding General Effect.

When mixed in with all the 5A’s, the FHS group was first place overall and was outstanding in Music Performance and General Effect.

Other bands in the top ten included Spring, Seven Lakes, Dawson, Stephen F. Austin, CyFair, Brazoswood, Clear Creek, Klein Oak and Westfield.

Due to rain delays, the students didn’t march until 7 pm and the rain came down in the middle of the show but they finished strong and did great, according to Band Director Greg Dick

This Saturday, the FHS Band will  head to Dickinson High School for their competition.

The UIL Region contest will be Tuesday, Oct. 22, in Dickinson. FHS Band’s time is 5:30 pm. UIL Area Contest is Saturday, Oct. 26 at Galena Park. The UIL State Contest is Nov. 4-5.
