Wranglerettes win numerous awards

On Saturday, February 20, 2016, the Friendswood High School Wranglerettes traveled to Pearland High School to compete in the Crowd Pleasers Senior Houston Showcase.  They competed against 25 other high schools from as far away as College Station.  The team earned four Best in Classes for lyrical, kick, pom, and hip hop; and one 2nd Runner-Up Best in Class for jazz.  They were named overall Grand Champion for all Large Teams which came with a $200.00 award for the team.  When compared to all teams present, regardless of size, the Wranglerettes were 4th Runner-Up.  The team also received plaques for Choreography on their hip hop, pom, jazz and lyrical dances; Showmanship for pom; Technique for hip hop and lyrical; and Crowd Pleasers Awards for kick and pom. In addition to those plaques, they came home with trophies for Super Sweepstakes and Showcase Elite.

The Dance Officers earned three Best in Classes for lyrical, jazz and novelty and one 1st Runner-Up Best in Class for modern.  They were also named overall Grand Champions for Large Team Officer groups.  The officers came home with plaques for Precision in lyrical and modern; Artistry for lyrical; and Crowd Pleasers Awards for lyrical and jazz.  Trophies for Super Sweepstakes, Showcase Elite, and Winner Circle also came home with the officers.

Several soloists also earned awards on Saturday.  In the Junior Soloists division (9th – 10th grade), Courtney Banfield was named 1st Runner-Up and Lauren Leighton was the Winner.  For the Senior soloist 11th grade division, Stephanie Reynolds was named 7th Runner-Up, Stephanie Brown 6th Runner-Up, Claire Owens 2nd Runner-Up, Isabelle Naylor 1st Runner-Up and Haley Weger was the Winner.
