THE STORY: It’s a dark, stormy night. The stars are out. Jim, the innkeeper’s granddaughter, opens the door to a terrifying stranger. At the old sailor’s feet sits a huge sea-chest, full of secrets. Jim invites him in—and her dangerous voyage begins. Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic tale of murder, money, and mutiny is brought to life in this innovative stage adaptation.

Jim Hawkins is a girl in this new production by Bryony Lavery.

“Bryony Lavery’s sharply written adaptation makes Jim Hawkins a Jemima…and lights up the ambiguous centre of Robert Louis Stevenson’s story.” —The Observer (UK).

Friendswood Theatre Director, Kathy Powdrell is excited to bring this production to the Friendswood High School Stage along with her returning UIL One Act Play Cast members and Theatre Students.

There will be the typical Pirates, Swords and Treasure. The twist is that there will be female pirates true to the 1750 role of women as pirates on the high seas as opposed to Stevenson’s traditional telling in the Victorian manner.
