FHS Forensics wins 1st place Grand Sweepstakes

Fifteen Friendswood Forensics team members attended the South Houston HS Speech tournament last weekend.  FHS won 1st place Grand Sweepstakes out of 31 schools. They beat the second place team 275 to 208 and that team had three times more students participating than FHS. “I am even more proud of them than usual,” said Coach Cheryl Ryne.

Individual winners included:
• J.C. Mills was named the MVP of the tournament (not usually done it was included at this tournament for fun)
• J.C. won 1st place Championship Congressional Debate, 1st place Domestic Extemp, 1st place Impromptu Speaking & 2nd place Poetry
• Adam Warren won 3rd place Championship LD Debate and 4th place Domestic Extemp 
• Ahysen Silva won 1st place Foreign Extemp and 5th place Championship LD Debate
• Elizabeth Chong won 1st place Oration and 5th place Championship LD Debate and was the 2nd place Outstanding Speaker in Championship LD Debate
• Kyle Flick won 3rd place Foreign Extemp and 8th place Congressional Debate
• Jose Camacho won 2nd place Domestic Extemp

First year (Novice) students also did well:
• William Jeffcoat won 4th place Novice Congressional Debate and 2nd place Novice Extemp
• Ashley Brueggeman and Mikayla Mullin won 5th place in Novice Public Forum Debate
• Ashley Brueggeman won 3rd place Novice Oration and 5th place Novice Extemp
• Tyler Mitchell won 1st place Novice Extemp
• Mikayla Mullin won 5th place in Novice Oration
• Emma Heintz won 6th place Novice Extemp
