Two Friendswood High School Musical Students are spending their summer on the Broadway Stage after winning the two top acting awards for the Tommy Tune awards for roles in FHS' 50th Anniversary production of The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Garrett Morris and Emily Mesa arrived in New York City with the Tommy Tune Awards Coordinator - Theatre Under the Stars representatives to participate in the 2018 Jimmy Awards. Garrett and Emily won Best Actor/Actress for their roles in Friendswood High School's of The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Garrett for his role of Quasimodo and Emily for her role of Esmeralda.

Director Kathy Powdrell delivered their costumes to TUTS last week as Tommy Tune award coordinators prepared to ship them to NYC.

"We at FHS know that they are ready for the Broadway Stage and are so happy that these outstanding young performers - Emily and Garrett are in the top 80 National Musical Theatre Performers. This is quite an honor. It is very rare to have two students from any school winning the actor/actress awards. The FHS Musical directors and cast members are thrilled.  The Jimmy Awards will be held in New York City on Monday, January 25 at the Minskoff Theatre on Broadway," said Kathy Powdrell.
