As Friendswood ISD continues to grow, the need for effective and timely communication has become ever more essential. That is why the Friendswood ISD Communication Department has welcomed Communications Specialist Kelsey Purcell to the team.
Kelsey is a May 2018 graduate from Midwestern State University. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication with a minor in Public Relations and Advertising in three years with a 4.0 GPA. Kelsey has a background in website design and social media, but her true passion is writing. She has been writing her entire life, but fell in love with the art of journalism during her time spent writing for her campus newspaper, The Wichitan.
Kelsey grew up down the road from Friendswood in Alvin where she attended Alvin High School and graduated with top honors in 2015. Outside of her passion for communication, Kelsey truly has a love for people and education. A self-proclaimed nerd, Kelsey has always valued the power of a good education and is excited to be a part of Friendswood ISD, a top ranked district in the Houston area.
“I’ve always loved learning and I am blessed to continue to have education be such a huge part of my life,” Purcell said. “Friendswood has always been a community that has intrigued me, but since I started working for FISD, I can say, without hesitation, Friendswood truly is a special place. I know God led me here for a beautiful reason, and I am excited to see how I can contribute to the already-strong culture of this district.”
As a communication specialist, Kelsey will be responsible for maintaining the district website, writing articles and press releases, helping maintain social media platforms and generating content for the website and social media. She will be assisting Director of Communications Dayna Owen.
