Friendswood High School's 51st annual Musical, Fiddler on the Roof opened last weekend to standing ovations.

One of the most beloved musicals of all time, Fiddler on the Roof tells the story of the Russian-Jewish peasant Tevye as he tries to balance tradition against the pressures of his changing world. Set in Czarist Russia just before the revolution, Fiddler on the Roof is filled with laughter, tears, emotion and hope, featuring memorable songs such as "Matchmaker," "If I Were a Rich Man,” “Tradition” and more.

The cast is lead by senior William Clyburn as Tevye and senior, Tori Robles as Golde. Together they share the struggles of Tevye and his daughters in a changing world.

Director, Kathy Powdrell speaks about the play:  The cast and I are told each and every night by audience members who share that when they were married the played or danced to: "Sunrise, Sunset." Some audience members share that they saw the original with Zero Mostel or Topol and they enjoyed our production equally.

Amy Thornton, technical production manager shared that audiences are saying this production has all the joy and magic of previous productions of this show. Powdrell states: Fiddler is a timeless story that still resonates with audiences today.

William Clyburn delivers a strong Tevye whose journey is resonated from start to finish both in his acting performance matched with an amazing vocal performance.  This completely draws audiences in.

The ensemble strongly sings and dances this amazing story.

Do not miss this amazing group of actors, pit and set crew delivery of a Fiddler on the Roof.
