The boys track team competed in the Region III Track & Field Championship at Challenger Stadium over the weekend. The guys represented Friendswood well, giving all they had against some of the best competitions in the state of Texas and in the nation.
Patrick Elizondo, Daniel Armstrong, Jordyn Villanueva, Cole Robbins, TJ Bryant, Dalton Murray, Jack Ehrman, Noah Kester and Mike Hermes all competed in the meet and gave some of there best efforts of the season. While everyone of these guys won't be advancing to the state meet in Austin, the efforts and dedication shown throughout the season should not go unrecognized.
Two of our athletes, senior Mike Hermes and sophomore Daniel Armstrong, will be moving on to the State Championships in Austin on Friday May 10. Mike finished 2nd in the high jump with a jump of 6'5", advancing to his 2nd state meet in his time at Friendswood.
Daniel will be making his first trip to the state meet as a sophomore. After competing in a hotly contested 800m run where he came up short in his goal to reach the state meet, Daniel returned in the 400m dash an hour later and ran a PR of 48.74 secs to finish 2nd and punch his ticket to Austin.
