Attention: Current AP Students, Teachers and Parents
We know there has been a great deal of discussion and concern over some new procedures regarding AP exams at the high school this year. Basically College Board itself has jumped into the registration process and moved up our deadlines for ordering exams.
For the 2020 AP exams, students will still be registering online, but now it will be in two places, you register for the exam itself with a join code, in AP classroom, at collegeboard’s website. Most students have already done this part in class with their AP teacher(s) and then you go to Total Registration to confirm which exams you will be taking and set up payment. Please note that in AP classroom the default is that all students enrolled in the class will be taking the exam, so if you or your child have chosen to not take the exam, you need to let your AP teacher know and do not register for that exam on Total Registration. AP teachers will communicate to Mr. Newsom and he will have to change the exam status with college board.
Again this year each AP exam costs $98. If you qualify for a fee reduction you can check that box on Total Registration’s website when registering, if approved the reduced exam fee is $54.00 per exam. Please contact Glen Newsom or Jill Hunter ([email protected] or [email protected]) if you have questions about fees.
Online Exam registration has begun and will end on Friday November 8th at 11:59 PM. In order to register, click on the following link: www.TotalRegistration.net/AP/442625. Registration is not complete until students have printed the pdf of the confirmation page that is provided at the end. We know that parents may desire to register their students for exams. We strongly recommend that parents and students are both present while registering to ensure that the correct exams are ordered.
Please be sure to have a credit card or debit card available before beginning registration. Paying online is a great way to make sure that payment has been made while avoiding mailing payments to Total Registration. You may pay the entire fee upon sign up, or due to the earlier deadline this year, you may also check the box to make payments considering most students take multiple exams and the fees add up quickly. Please note we still need a $40 non-refundable deposit by November 8th and Total Registration does charge a small transaction fee if you are making multiple payments.
Here are the important dates for the registration process:
• Friday November 8th: Deadline for registering for AP class room and AP exams through collegeboard and also deadline for either paying fees or setting up payment schedule through Total Registration.
• Friday November 15th: Deadline for high school to reconcile Total Registration & College Board sign ups and order AP exams. Registering for any exams after November 15th will result in a $15 late fee per exam.
All exam fees must be paid in full by March 1, 2020.
There will be a second registration window and deadline for Semester 2 only courses (basically AP Government and AP Economics) but those dates are not finalized yet.
If you cancel an exam after the November 15th order deadline you will get a partial refund of $58 per exam.
There will be more information to follow regarding testing dates, conflicts and make up dates, etc.
