FHS BBB Logo“Last night, the Mustangs played host to the Indians from Santa Fe.  After sustaining a district opening loss to Texas City, the boys were looking to get that first district win of 2020.  Hudson Bockart (Sr.) (16 pts.) got the action going early, scoring 8 of the first 10 for the Stangs.  Santa Fe was able to convert early buckets and keep pace with the Mustangs in the first.  With the game tied at 13 heading into the second, the Mustangs were able to gain a little separation heading into the halftime break.

Austin Petrovics (Sr.) got the scoring started in the second with a rip into the paint for an easy lay in at the rim.  Following a Savion Skeete 3 pointer, Hudson Bockart continued his aggressive ways, getting to the rim for back to back buckets.  Jerome Scott closed out the half running a set play to perfection for a wing three, to send the Mustangs into the break with a 29-24 lead.

The Mustangs were able to blow the game open in the 3rd, outscoring the Indians 14-2, to take a 43-26 lead heading into the 4th.  All 12 Mustangs were able to get in the game, and contribute in some way.  Troy Barnes (So.) came off the bench early in the first half and be aggressive against the Santa Fe defense.  Ryan Parks (Sr.) came off the bench in the 2nd and provided a huge spark with his tough play and finishing around the rim.  In the end, the Mustangs were able to secure and 58-40 victory to move to 1-1 in district and 12-9 overall.

The Freshman A and JV were able to get dominating victories to improve their district record to 2-0. Freshman A/B, JV, and Varsity will be back in action on Friday @ Galena Park.”
