Dear Mustang Families,
A hashtag is designated with the symbol # and is used to help find common themes on social media.  A “trending” hashtag refers to a theme which becomes immediately popular at a particular time.  The current trending hashtag in the Friendswood community is #WeAreMighty!

The outpouring of support for FISD students is nothing but MIGHTY!  Teachers and parents have braced together to navigate remote learning!  We all watch in awe as students continue to be engaged and adapt to this new way of learning during these unprecedented times. Thank you for your partnership as we continue to finish this school year strong!

Teachers will continue to post learning opportunities on Monday mornings, and will continue to provide feedback to students and post grades in Skyward.  Student participation in these learning opportunities is necessary for course completion and for application of the grading guidelines.  One to two grades per subject are still being taken per week. The grading guidelines can be found at https://myfisd.com/covid-19/ (or on the FHS website “Information from FHS/FISD Administration“). Skyward allows parents to stay current of their student’s progress.  Please continue to check Skyward and reach out to your child’s teachers with any questions.

May is normally full of student celebrations, which is a great joy for principals, teachers and parents. We share in your disappointment, knowing May looks much different this year. Based on the Governor’s most recent executive order closing school campuses through the end of the 2020 school year, campus based activities (i.e. awards nights, banquets, and grade level celebrations) are cancelled as well. The plans regarding May activities are being finalized, and we will share decisions with FHS families as soon as possible.

Know this … I am, and will always be Mustang Proud of you! Hang in there, we’ve got this!

Stay safe, stay strong and stay positive!
