“Adapt and Overcome!” has been the recurring battle cry of the 2020 Friendswood Mustangs Varsity football team as plans of a characteristically successful season have been interrupted by injuries to players at several key positions. As a result, young Mustangs have been forced to step up and fill important spots on the team while veteran players have been called upon to drastically expand their roles. The Mustangs hard work was rewarded last week in Baytown with a gritty 14-7 win over the Sterling Rangers, bringing their district record to 1-1.
This Friday night the Stangs hope to celebrate homecoming and build momentum going into the rest of district competition with a critical match up against the 2-0 Beaumont United Timberwolves. In the coming weeks the team is looking to get back to full strength with many players returning from injury. This combined with the valuable experience gained by the rest of the team should make the remainder of the season exciting for the Stangs!
