Mark Griffon | Mustang Talk Podcast
Mr. Griffon graduated from Friendswood HS in 1978 and then earned a BS in Biology and a Masters in Administration and Supervision both from Texas Tech University. Mr. Griffon received a Mid-Management Certification from the University of Houston at Clear Lake. He holds a Superintendent Certification from Texas Southern University. Mr Griffon taught science for 14 years at Friendswood HS and was also the Head Basketball coach for 11 years.
He joined the administrative team at Friendswood HS in 2000 as an Assistant Principal. Mr. Griffon was the Associate Principal at FHS for one year and then the Executive Director of Administrative Operations for the district for one year before returning to Friendswood HS as the Principal.
Nancy Lockhart Gifted & Talented Coordinator
Mrs. Lockhart has her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Education 6th -12th grades from the University of New Orleans and earned her Masters of Science in Educational Leadership and Principal Certification from the University of Houston. She taught middle school and high school mathematics in Louisiana and was also responsible for the remediation of at risk students. Mrs. Lockhart and her husband moved to Friendswood in 1996. She taught at FHS, in the math department, for seven years then joined the administrative team as an Assistant Principal. In 2007, she moved to Clear Lake High School to be the Dean of Instruction for one year before returning to Friendswood ISD as the Director of Student Success. Mrs. Lockhart has three children all whom have attended Friendswood schools. She is currently the Associate Principal.
Delaney Lyon Assistant Principal & Testing Coordinator
Mrs. Lyon has her Bachelor of Arts in English with a Secondary Education Certification from Texas State University and earned her Masters in Educational Leadership from the University of Texas- San Antonio. She taught 7th & 8th grade English, Reading, and Dyslexia Intervention for six years prior to moving to Friendswood. Mrs. Lyon joined the staff of Friendswood HS in 2016 as an Assistant Principal.
Chad Jones (Alpha Group Ri – Z)
Mr. Jones has a Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology (emphasis in sports medicine) from Lamar University (1995). He also has a Master’s in Education Administration from Lamar University (2009). Over 16 years Mr. Jones served as the Head Athletic Trainer at Santa Fe HS (1996-1998), J. Frank Dobie HS (1998-2004), and Pearland HS (2004-2012). In 2012, he became an Assistant Principal at Brazoswood HS (2012-2015). Mr. Jones joined the staff of Friendswood HS in 2015 as an Assistant Principal.
Paul Tucker (Alpha Group Le – Rh)
Mr. Tucker earned his Bachelor of Arts in History and Masters in Education Administration from UHCL. He spent four years as a teacher and administrator in Santa Fe ISD. After moving to FISD, Mr. Tucker taught AP Economics and Government for seven years at FHS before moving into administration. He also coached basketball and football during his education career. Mr. Tucker has been married to his wife Kay for 40 years, and has four children, and seven grandchildren. He loves fishing and traveling Texas with his wife.
Glen Newsom (Alpha Group A – Eq)
Mr. Newsom has his Bachelor of Arts in both English and Political Science from UHCL and his Masters in Education Administration from Lamar University. He taught and coached in Hitchcock ISD for 15 years before coming to Friendswood in 2010. At Friendswood High School Mr. Newsom taught Junior and Senior English and coached varsity football and baseball up until 2015 when he accepted the job as an Assistant Principal. Mr. Newsom has been married for 32 years, has three children, and is currently up to three grandchildren.
Ashley Birmingham (Alpha Group Er – La)
Ashley Birmingham has her Bachelor of Arts in History and Secondary Social Studies from the University of Houston-Clear Lake. She has been employed in FISD for 11 years and was active on the FHS campus from the start. She has helped coach UIL Academics, Academic Decathlon, Academic Octathlon, Sr class sponsor, and for the past five years she has worked as the Social Studies Team Leader. She has been the department head, a lead up teacher, and an academic coach. Mrs. Birmingham participated in FISD’s Learning Leaders Academy this year, and she will graduate with her Master’s in Education in August 2020. Mrs. Birmingham has been married to her husband, Justin for 22 years and has two boys.
