Varsity Tennis has 2 qualifying for state tournament

The Varsity Tennis Team competed in the Spring Regional tournament on April 15-16 at Blythe-Calfee Tennis Center in Willis, Tx. Joann Karam and Justin Vu won first place in Mixed Doubles, defeating Montgomery in the semifinals and Tomball Memorial in the finals. All Superiors for four FHS Bands at Concert, Sight Reading contests

The Friendswood High School Bands recently participated in the UIL Region 17 Concert and Sight Reading Contest at Pearland High School recently. FHS student Emily Dundee was chosen out of hundreds of applicants to attend the Western Art Academy, which includes four weeks of art instruction, housing, meals and interaction with other art students from neighboring districts. Dundee was honored by FISD Trustee Ralph Hobratschk at the April Board meeting.

Making a Difference too!

Melanie (Farris) Beran (left) was honored by FISD Trustee Ralph Hobratschk and the Board for “Making a Difference” on the Bales campus. She helps support ESL students in the classroom, covers lunch duty with the primary students and works as the PE aide.

Making a Difference

Lynette Oldham (center) was honored at the April FISD Board meeting for “Making a Difference” on the Westwood-Bales campus by Superintendent Trish Hanks. FISD Trustee Mike Shaw (right) recognized the students who attended the Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) State Career Development Conference at the April Board meeting.


At the state Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA) competition, FISD was represented by 21 students. Ten earned first place awards and ten earned second place and were recognized by FISD Trustee Dr. David Montz at the April Board Meeting.
